Volunteer Supporters Network Meetup

The Volunteer Supporters Network (Info in Meta) will hold its Second Live Meetup during Wikimania 2015 in Mexico City in two different sessions: on the morning and afternoon of Thursday, July 16 2015. We're looking for people working as volunteer supporters of any kind in Wikimedia Chapters and Usergroups, as well as anyone interested in developing strategies for local volunteer support policies, activities and best practices.

  • Date: Thursday July 16
  • Time and Place: 10 AM - 12 AM, Hotel Fiesta Inn, Room C/D and 3 PM to 4:30 PM, Hotel Fiesta Inn, Lobby

Who can come?

We're looking for:

  • Volunteer coordinators or the local equivalent in your Chapter, Usergroup or Wikimedia-affiliated community.
  • Leaders in Wikimedia Chapters and/or Usergroups looking forward to creating or expanding their Volunteer/Community support policies, activities and best practices

When is it happening?

The VSN will hold two different events, both on Thursday, July 16 2015:

  • At 10:00 AM we will hold a session in the WMCON Follow-Up Day, where we will present our first working paper, detailing our goals, current discussions, challenges and approaches to work.
You might be interested in attending this session if you attended the last WMCON, or if you're interested in the theoretical considerations of volunteer support in the context of the Wikimedia Movement.
  • From 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM we will hold a more "practical" hands-on session where we will help anyone interested in volunteer support with specific questions or situations.
You might be interested in attending this session if you are responsible for volunteer support in your Wikimedia organization or would like to start one.
