With the implementation of ITs in schools, the teachers are confronted with new problems about taking knowledge from the Internet to the classroom. Within this context, we can identify a series of factors that result in the students in basic education levels in Chile not fully taking advantage of educational content on the internet, especially the Wikimedia movement projects.
In the last few years, the basic education curriculum has been reformed and adapted to the digital age and with it, the knowledge access models and forms have also been updated. However, knowledge generation has not been correctly transmitted to the new generations, hindering the current generation of students' ability to fully use TIs in education.
Therefore, the presentation will focus on the difficulties that we have detected and several proposed solutions so that students, professors and tutors in basic education can also be readers and contributors to the Wikimedia Projects.
